I recently got a chance to check out Dam-Funk in SF. I have been following Dam since I stumbled onto his music many moons ago on myspace, long before his current fame. He has a genuine passion, and has been REP‘ing his sound when no one was looking. That is highly commendable in today’s world where gimmick reigns supreme. Truly good to see this cat getting just acclaim, and doing his thing…

AYBEE’s remix of Randolph’s “Earth To God” featured on his Echoes Of Lonely Eden project along with a slew of other amazing remixes. Itunes
Oakland, CA based producers AYBEE and Afrikan Sciences emerge from the underground again laced with more pitch Deep otherness. Joining forces for their 1st EP “The Nibiru Projekt” represents 25th Century soul in true Deepblak mold.

Got a chance last Friday to play at a friends (DJ Said) party in SF. We & The Music is the latest installment from Said Adelekan a longtime Fatsouls Records label head, and Don of the SF Deep scene. Said has hosted several iconic names over the years such as Francois K., Ron Trent, Danny Krivit, and Dennis F. just to name a few so when I got the call I was more than honored. His Party is held monthly at 222 Hyde in SF which is home to an unbelievable sound system. I had an amazing time. Here are a few moments from the evening.
Sneak peek at an upcoming collab with Oakland’s Omega. Soon on Blaktropolis 2

The trip to New York was no different than any of my other trips there….simply magical. The opportunity catch up, build, and make new friends was a tremendous blessing. In this era of social networking, and thumb based communication there is nothing like sitting in front of someone sharing ideas, food, and laughter. With the mighty Jus-Ed as my host little could go wrong as I was exposed to some of Connecticut’s most beautiful landscapes. To wrap up the weekend at the helm of one NYC’s most fabled Sound-System’s was an experience not soon to be forgotten. Respect to Jus-Ed, Anthony Parasole, Fred P., DJ Qu, Levon Vincent, Joey, Ian Rock, Lola & Spider, and all those who came out. I appreciate all the conversations as it was truly time well spent. Until next time…
